XAMUN 2023 is the fifth iteration of the first XAMUN that took place in 2017. The 3-day XAMUN was held in the enchanting Club Himalaya, Nagarkot. There were 120 delegates/participants from 5 nations, including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, France, and Germany. The XAMUN 2023 conference is shaping up to be one of the most intense debates, challenging the diplomatic abilities of the delegates and encouraging networking through a variety of social events like the Global Village, Pool Party, Candlelight Dinner, and Prom Night.
XAMUN 2023 was organized in collaboration with The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (UNFAO). This event has been an outstanding platform that provides unique benefits such as negotiation, communication, leadership abilities, and crisis management skills to adapt to and deal with unexpected scenarios.
The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Hon'ble Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and our Guests of Honour, Mr. Keshav Bhakta Mathema, Former UNICEF Resident Representative to People's Republic of China & Mongolia and Mr. Bhai Raja Panday, Former UNHCR Resident Representative to Myanmar, as well as Ambassador to France Mr. Mohan Krishna Shrestha, Former Nepalese Ambassador to France graced the Opening Day’s program with their presence. Hon. Minister Mr. Kiranti highlighted on the importance of negotiating skills in students; Guest of Honour – Mr. Bhai Raja Panday shared his experience of being a diplomat. He narrated a beautiful anecdote on how people who are basically peace-loving in nature turned into a warring group with the concept of border and personalizing resources.
XAMUN 2023 has been helpful for enhancing the standard of MUNs in Nepal and promoting Nepali MUNs on a worldwide scale. XAMUN aims to be one of the most rigorous and enjoyable academic simulation of the UN in Nepal as well as an experience, which will be memorable to novices and professionals alike. It is proven to be a forum in which everyone can learn and refine their diplomatic skills, as well as form profound connections that will last a lifetime.
